Tino, sadly most of us don't feel much restriction on the first fill (but fingers crossed that you are one of the lucky ones!!)

Believe me, you'll KNOW when you get stuck! You will feel a terrible pain in your chest, which usually leads to sliming and/or PBing (productive burping) and some may vomit. You have to make sure you are taking a break between bites/swallows to allow the food to go down and prevent backing up. Even if you're taking small bites, if they are too close together, it could also end up being the size of one big bite as it's making it's way down. Luckily, my surgeon does fills via fluoroscopy, so I got to see how slow everything moves through. It really helped me to visualize what is going inside when I'm eating....

Hope this helps somewhat! Good luck!

When I'm stuck I get a horrible pain in my chest, and at that moment I want to get it out. I try not to throw up I just wait it out until it passes, once it took a hour. Drinking makes it worse. I heard on here that some people start burping when they are full, that's there sign to stop eating.

That discomfort means that you have restriction - make sure you eat slowly, tiny bite and chew.

Being full now is diff feeling than our old full. It takes awhile to figure it out - but if you have eaten say 1/2 c of food and feel that discomfort stop eating you are most likely full..

Being stuck hurts - like a golf ball in your chest - slime (saliva) come pouring out of your mouth as your body is trying to get the food to go down - if it doesn't go down then it will come back up in a form of a bp..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
