I was just wondering what you can't eat after you got banded.... Im thinking this will really help some people from eating something that gets stuck with most people.... SO Im asking you to write back and let me know what always gets stuck and what you don't eat because of it.... for example, if bread comes up alot I wont eat bread.... and so on...

....and wondering what you ate for mushies.... we need all the suggestions we can get!:w00t:

has anyone tried weight watchers WW bread??? does that get stuck? ....what about pita bread???

have a great day peeps :smile2:

I was banded 11/18/09...and down 62lbs since my suregery date...I can currently eat everything if I chew well *except* cold meat...about 1 month post op I took a few bites of leftover pork ribs from the fridge...they were nice and tender when warm - but cold, not so much...all I can say is ouch?! After about 30 min of intense pain in my esophagus, the chunk of meat came back up...learned my lesson.

Side note is that I've only had one 3cc fill so far...in a 10cc LapBand...so that may be why I have less issues with food. Dr feels my weight loss has been good, so no additional fills have been needed so far.

As for mushie foods I can't live without - Polly-O string cheese and Chobani Greek Yogurt...both are decently high in Protein and yummy...oh, and Laughing Cow light cheese spreads...I like the garlicy one spread on a Ritz Cracker (Garlic and Herb, maybe?)...all dr's have different rules for what constitutes a mushie, so make sure to find out what your's suggests. A few crackers were okay for me, but a no-no for others.

Good luck!

Hi darkangel - congratulations on getting your surgery date! I too can eat pretty much anything. I was banded in June '09 and pre-op lost 40 lbs on my own... post-op with my band i've lost 55 lbs more. I'm looking forward to hitting 100 lbs by my BANDiversary! :smile2: With that said... Soup, tender meats, pasta's are all OK with me. At times I have some issues with breads but only when I'm in a hurry and forget to chew chew chew! LOL That's really what it's all about. Making good food choices and remembering to really really chew your food. Good luck with everything!

Hi! I also eat pretty much everything, except for doughy breads. I am hesitant to order red meat out, since it sometimes gets me stuck. I tend to order fish when I'm out, since I love it and it goes down very well! bread is fine if it's crunchy or toasted, tortillas work decently well, and very thin crust pizza also works. As a general rule though, I steer clear of breads. I get full fast enough that I'd rather eat something else most of the time!

During mushies, I really enjoyed healthy Soups, yogurt, mashed potatoes (with Greek yogurt as sour cream), mashed yams, and fat free refried Beans with cheese. I have some good Soup recipes posted on my blog if you're interested.

Hope that helps! :smile2:

Catherine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
