So, I am VERY excited and noone gets it like all of you will!! :smile2:

On January 27th I went to the doctor because I was having horrible stomach pains. After a bunch of tests, he decided that my band had slipped and admitted me right to the hospital for surgery to re-adjust it. It was not fun going through it all over again, but the pain was not quite as bad as the first time. I went yesterday for my first fill since surgery and I am so excited, it is great to have this feeling back!!! It was almost like something was missing for the past 6 weeks, and I feel whole again:cool: I actually still lost weight even without having anything in my band and my doctor was very happy about that. So I just want to let you all know how excited I am to be back in the game with all of you!!!

It's great that you are back in the game, but why does a band slip to begin with? Is there something that we can do to prevent it?

Glad to hear you have weathered the storm and are back on track! As far as why the band slips, it's my understanding it's from vomiting. It's tough to keep that from happening, at least it is for me. I eat too fast and don't chew enough. I am working really hard to slow down, but it's changing a habit years and years in the making.

My doctor actually said that it was from being really sick after surgery and coughing alot. I got sick when I was in the hospital and ended up with bronchitis and I have asthma too, which caused me to cough ALOT. I am just glad that everything is back to normal now.!!

I asked my surgeon about band slips last week. I specifically asked if a lot of coughing would cause a slip and he said "no". He said that a slip is never caused by anything a patient does and can not be anticipated.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
