Morphine makes me really itchy too!! If you were allergic to the band, I think it'd be a lot worse after a week.

Could it be season allergies? Spring is almost here!

Unlikely that you are allergic the band itself. More likely the problem is from the morphine or the surgical tape or one of the drugs. It's not uncommon for an allergic reaction to hang around for a week or more. If there's no improvement at the end of week two, or if it gets worse, then I would inquire more deeply. In the meantime ask your doctor if there is an antihistamine you could take.

I found my whole stomach itched like crazy for about three weeks after my surgery, but it's gone now.

Narcotics do cause itching as a side effect. Try taking Benadryl, it really helps make the itching better.

Do you have a rash? I was taking Lortab Elixar, and about the 3rd day I broke out in a huge rash all over my stomach. It was the pain medicine. The doctor said I probably was allergic to the dye in the medicine, because people usually aren't allergic to that particular medicine itself.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
