kix2006 0 Posted March 4, 2010 Hi everyone! i am a newbie as they say. i have just been given my first appt with my Surgeon - Mr Pring from Gatwick Spire Hospital - on the 12.03.10. i am having to go private as my NHS surgeon politly told me that i was one of his smallest people and i would have to wait another year before i have my surgery. i have already been waiting since May last year. Plus the NHS hospital is in London which is an hour train ride to get too plus the £20 train ticket each time i go. i was just wondering if anyone who has gone private in the uk can answer some questions for me? Please message me. thanks a bunch:)
Majj 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Hello !! maybe you should leave a message on the U.K forum , I am from Australia and mostly post on the Aussie forum so I can`t help with your questions , in Australia the operation has to be done in a private hospital its not in the Public system yet ... I wish you well with your Quest .. and Welcome to the group..

Ohm 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Hiya Kix, I am in the UK, but I was one of the lucky (or purely bloody minded) ones who managed to get the op on the NHS. I had no pain post operatively and I am now at a BMI of 24.1 (or I was last week, hang on, I'll just weigh myself - yup, still 24.1). I have also just had an inverted T abdominoplasty - also on the NHS and am waiting to have my arms, boobs and thighs done - i.e. to have all the loose skin removed. There has to be 6 months between plastic procedures too allow for fixing of dog ears etc, (if necessary) alongside new procedures - saves on anaesthetist fees. Anyway, I can answer questions on the procedure and the experience, but not on the private system cos I was NHS. Anything I can do to help?
Majj 0 Posted March 11, 2010 Hi Kim...I had a lapband fitted on 24th February 2010 ...one week of liquids onto my second week of Mussy foods now , back to see the dietitian on Monday can`t wait to get back to real food again , even in small portions its got to be better than blended foods.. At the moment I feel its all will power as I want to do the correct thing , but I am looking forward to starting my fills so I can actually feel the band is doing something... Late here and I am off to bed ..Chat later .. Marion
