2 years out and no weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi-

Ok, so most of the no weight loss is my fault. Junk food and no exercise. I got the band without much thought and now I am trying to make it work for me. Have hard time eating solid foods, going to try slimfast and be more active.

Anything at this point would be very helpful. I need to do this for me, would love to hear from banders who have made it work for them.

Much thanks in advance

:)

You already seem to know what you are doing wrong. I am concerned though that you have said that you have difficulty with solid foods. It sounds as though you are too tight.Slimfast, liquids, other sliders go down easily but do not satisfy you and if this is all you are able to eat you are not using the band properly.

Go back to your Dr, get some fill taken out so that you can eat solid foods again. These should satisfy and fill you up for longer and you should start losing weight again. Just remember to follow the rest of the rules e.g no drinking with meals etc.

This combined with giving up junk food and exercising should see you become successful.

Good luck

Welcome to lapbandtalk!

I agree with what elcee said. Sounds as if you are too tight.

If you cannot eat solid foods, you will struggle with satiety. Slimfast and sliders is not the way to go.

Think about getting together with your doctor and a nutritionist and develop a plan.

Best wishes!

Try substituting your SlimFast with Protein Shakes. You'll need more Protein in your body, especially when you start exercising. Good luck!

I agree with the other posters. Losing with the band is easy if you are proactive about your care. Sounds like you need to just turn a new leaf, check in with your doctor on your fill, throw out the junk food and commit to eating better.

You don't have to be perfect right off the bat. Get the food and fill stuff under control, and you can start exercising once you've had some weight loss success and are feeling great about that.

It's not too late for you to turn this around. You just have to make some changes. This WILL work if you let it! :(

Hang in there -- even just by posting today, you've made a good first step in the right direction!

Catherine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
