Bye-bye gallbladder

Recommended Posts

I finally went to the doctor about the backpain I was having after eating. Turns out I have developed gallstones from the rapid weight loss and have to have my gallbladder out. This really sucks but at least I know what the problem is now. On a happier note, I have passed my halfway point in my weight loss!

I am glad you got diagnosed and there is a fix. You will be more comfortable when it is taken care of.

Congratulations on your wt loss.

Dani, I don't know why I didn't think of that before! I had the same thing happen to me 8 years ago after I lost 70 lbs. on WW. The back pain was right between my shoulder blades. It's a very common diagnosis after a large weight loss.

I'm glad you figured it out b/c gallstones are NO fun! If a stone tries to pass, it can feel like you are having a heart attack. But once you have it out, you will feel like a new woman! Try to avoid fatty foods until your surgery. That will help prevent an attack.

And btw, the GB surgery is a walk in the park compared to WLS. Easy-breezy! Do you know when your surgery is?

Good luck to you! And congrats on being more than halfway there! :smile2:

I had my gallbladder out on Friday and everything was going smoothly until I had my first solids on Saturday and all of the pain returned. I was in agony for 8 hours and even the IV pain meds didn't make it go away. I had horrible back and chest pain that radiated up my neck to my jaw. It felt like I was having a heart attack. I stayed on liquids until I saw my LAP-BAND® surgeon on Monday and it turns out my band was too tight. I don't know how it got that way, maybe dehydration. They said when it it too tight it causes the pouch to spasm and cause the pain I described. They took 1cc out and it has made a world of difference. I actually ate some eggs this morning! I haven't been able to do that in so long! I am just hoping I don't start to gain weight now that I have less restriction but I am sooo glad to be pain-free!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
