w/implants (if that even makes a difference)

what did your Dr. have you wear and for how long?

I'm going to need new bras after surgery, and i want to have at least 2 purchased before hand so i don't have to go out shopping right away.

right now i'm in a 36 C but was measured and told i should wear a 34 C. I had too much 'skin' hanging out so i got a 36 C and have to wear it on the tightest hook.

I'm probably going to be a 34 D after surgery, so the bras i have now aren't going to work. They are also underwire.

Does your Dr's say no underwire? only sports bra? (if sports bra, what kind? the uniboob kind or can it have cups, just no underwire?)

and for how long before going back to whatever kind you want?

if there is a thread already for this...let me know. i tried to search, but wasn't finding what i wanted to know.

Thanks! 5 more weeks! WOO HOO i cannot wait!

Wanna, you have legitimate questions and your PS office should be able to answer them exactly. I am pretty sure no underwire will be recommended for quite a while. I wore the compression vest they put me in for 2 weeks then went to Walmart for the Front hooking sports bras, and made them very snug. You will be surprised how high and round you will be for the first few weeks. Some PS want you to wear a bra 24/7 so check on that, too.

I am so happy for you. I had the lift 1/4/10 without implants. Sometimes I wish I got them but most of the time I am OK w/o them. I am happy to not be a 34 long anymore!!!!!

My friend had a breast enlargement and she was told to have a sports bra that when she woke up she was wearing...... She was told the size to get (one size smaller than she is)

I have just yesterday asked my PS's secretary this question - So I will be able to tell you what she says when she emails me back but I am pretty sure you hafta have a sports bra. And I am sure you are not allowed to have underwired bras.

Ooh reading the above comment I wonder If I willhafta wear a compression vest an what that looks like

Sue, the compression vest hooked up the front then zipped over the hooks. It had velcro shoulder straps and was a bit like a long line bra with no cups. I think I am describing a straight jacket, LOL!!!!!

A straight jacket sounds like the perfect attire for me!

I will hopefully find out whether I need to get a sports bra or have a nice straight jacket (better be a black one lol) in the next few days ;-)

from what the paper work says, i will either have one on when i leave the surgery center, or one they want me to wear will be in my bag that goes home (to the hotel) with me.

My concern is to have an extra one or two, so that when one is being washed, i would have the other if i'm suppose to wear one 24/7 for the first 2 weeks (other than showering).

I asked about an extra compression garment, and i'll be purchasing that the day i pay the balance of my surgery.

i guess they will tell me what i have to wear and how many hours a day at my next appointment (which i'm doing over the phone to avoid having to travel 2 1/2 hours to get the rest of the info and pay the balance).

The next appointment i have with the Dr. in person is 3:45, April 6th the day before surgery.

i have a list of questions to ask on my phone consult, and if the nurse can't/doesn't answer them, i will have them printed to bring with me for the Dr. to answer at the appointment!

33 days and counting!!

Yay, Wanna!!!!! 9 days and counting for me!!!!!

I hope they answer all your questions ahead of time!!!! It is part of the fun of planning!!!

They didn't give me an extra vest.....I switched to a sports bra while I washed the one I came home in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
