sakirby 0 Posted March 3, 2010 I just got back from the grocery store with the supplies for my pre-op diet, I start it tomorrow. At first I thought that my surgery date was a big day, and it is, but as of tomorrow I will officially give several of the foods that I love. Tomorrow I start making the right decisions on what I put in my body. I was just wondering what others thought about this.
Catherine55 43 Posted March 4, 2010 Congratulations!! Doing your pre-op diet is the first step, and it's probably the hardest part of this whole journey! You don't have to give up your favorite foods to be banded though -- I haven't totally given up anything other than soda and sparkling Water. You'll just feel satisfied eating them in much smaller quantities. Congratulations on your decision. You are in for a great year! Take before photos and your measurements TODAY if you haven't already! You will definitely want them later! Catherine
Jeri1053 0 Posted March 4, 2010 So, how goes the pre-op diet? I've been on mine now for almost 2 weeks and will be done on 3/11/10 as my surgery is scheduled for 3/12/10. The first couple of days were a bit rough - going from food to liquids, but it's been well worth it and I believe that this will be the hardest part! If I can do this without the band then with the band I should be in good shape! Keep us posted on how you're doing - there are some awesome people here! I just started today and have already figured that out!
bigbirney 3 Posted March 4, 2010 This is as big of step as the surgery, or it was for me. If I cant change my mindset for pre-op, then how will i for surgery. The first few days are tough, and there are cravings. I even fell off for a day, but I got right back on the next day. 2 weeks later the cravings are less and less. I eat slower and enjoy more what I do eat, and it has helped tremendously. I am down about 20 pounds, and already feel better. If you feel urges coming on, get on the forum and read, it has been a great tool.
