Hi, Hannah. I am also new. I am 32 years old and 250lbs. My BMI is 40. I am TOTALLY with you. I have been struggling with my weight for a while now and Really want to do the banding. My wonderful husband of 6 years is totally supportive, but a little hesitant in this crazy idea that I have. =)

I am just getting started in this process. He is going to a seminar with me this week put on by a surgeon in my area. Baby steps...

I, too, would love some info from anyone regarding their life and experiences.

I heard a saying that TOTALLY speaks true to weight loss surgery.

Weight loss surgery is like a hammer. It's a tool to help you reach your goal. You can't build a house with a hammer...it's a tool to help you build it. Just like with weight loss, your weight loss surgery will not make you lose weight. It is a tool to help you lose weight.

Good luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
