So far my experience has been wonderful!!! My surgery was 2/25/2010 and everything has exceeded my expectations. I'm healing well, my hungry is gone and my weight is going down. I am now like many others, my only regret is that i should have done this sooner. After my surgery my doctor said it was a good thing i got it done, cause my organs had a lot of fat around them which would have led to health issues in the future. Congratulations to all my Bandsters who got it done and posted in this forum because its encouraging to hear all the success stories.

I too was banded on the 25th and I would not say that everything has exceeded my expectations but more was in line with them. I have no more gas pain and the incision pain is minimal. I am, however, STARVING! I am on a one week post op clear liquid diet and am taking in about 500 cal per day. I am absolutely famished! I have my post op follow up today and will talk to my doctor but I will manange to struggle through. Good luck on your journey!

Deucus- I am so glad to hear you are doing so well!

dnunzo51- I was starving on the liquid diet a few days after surgery on. I had significant hunger all the way up to my 3rd fill. Hang in there! It will get better!

Eliminating hunger is one of the key things for success. I would be very interested in what your doctor says. I find myself at times craving something (Pizza) that i love but not hungry for it. I know the liquid diet is tough cause you really don't get to chew anything and i miss that. I guess it's a little psychological. :)

My Dr advaced me to the next stage of the post op diet. I am allowed to have full liquids for the rest of the week then I may move to mushies. I had Tomato Soup for dinner last night. That was the best darn Tomato Soup ever! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
