Is this pain normal?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I had my surgery on June 5th.... so about 9 months ago... I had my last fill 2 weeks ago and have had great restriction... all was well.

I think I might be getting some sord of stomach bug... because I've been making constant trips to the bathroom and I'm very nauseous since late last night. I was gagging and throwing up a lot (no food just clear stuff :w00t:). This is not related to me having a big meal or not chewing right ... its just from the bug.

I've been better for about 4 hours but I just drank some Water and I feel a bit of "pain" when it goes down. I can't even say its pain but its just different.

I guess I'm just really worried I might have damaged, slipped my band with all the gagging and throwing up.

If you are concerned the best thing to do is call or see your Dr.

Probably the discomfort is related to being ill and your oesophagus is probably swollen.

The best thing to relieve anything that is swollen is rest and ice(if its external then compression and elevation as well but your throat is internal)!

Don't try eating/drinking at the moment, rather suck on icechips. They are cool and soothing and they seem to work wonders with a sore inflamed throat.

Hope you feel better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
