I believe it is approximately 10lbs per dress size. For example for women; if you are a 22/24 and you loose 10 lbs. then you are a 22, 20lbs and you are a 20, 30 lbs and you are an 18, ect..... Although some people will vary due to loosing more inches, than actual weight. Hope that helps.

It depends on how you carry your weight and other things like hight.

I have lost 75 pounds and have gone from a size 24 (tight) to an 18 maybe a 16 depending on the cut/style.

I agree...it varies on how you carry your weight and how much weight you have to lose!

I have lost 34# and haven't gone down a single size! It's mostly from my top, boobs and face!

It varies dramatically from person to person, and even from size to size. I've found that at the higher sizes, there is less weight variation than in lower sizes. (For example, moving from an 18 to a 20 happened within about 10 pounds; moving from a 12 to a 14 required over 25. It made it a lot easier to ignore weight piling on.)

Right I am the same as one said I lost 30lbs and haven't went down a size yet either. It shows also on my top neck back chest. I was a tight 24 as well and now im fitting my 24's they are loose, but they fit so maybe another 30 I will be down a size I don't know. It all varies from person to person and how you carry your weight. I am more top heavy then bottom so it starts coming off my top first.

For me, it used to be about 15 but with me loosing inches it has allowed me to get in some sizes without loosing 15

I have droped 86lbs and i went from a size 22 to 14 but it took a long time to drop from a 18 to a 16 (like 30lbs) but the 14's come with a 15lbs weight loss.

I have lost around 75 lbs and I have gone down 4 sizes, from a size 28 jean to a size 20 jean.. I have always thought the 10lbs=1 dress size is a bunch of BS... my sister weighs at least 25lbs less then me and she also wears a size 20 jeans... and she is like 2 inches taller then me... so it truly depends on how you carry your weight, etc..

I dont go by dress sizes, because you can cheat a dress size WWWAAAAAAAYYYY to easy, especially depending on the cut. An A line is very forgiving and deceiving. I'm all about the jean size. I started at 285 and in a size 24 jeans from lane bryant. I am currently down to 191 and in a size 12 from old navy. For me it takes about 15 pounds to go down a true size....but that's just me.

I've lost 25lbs and not even 1 dress size yet :w00t:!! I carry most of my weight in my abdomen and have lost most of my weight in my thighs and butt---so now I just have a saggy ass and baggy legs on pants that fit my waist :).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
