Pre-op diet beverage question

Recommended Posts

:confused:Ok, I started my pre-op diet yesterday and it says only Water to drink. I wonder if it's ok to drink Decaf tea with splenda? Of course my docs office is closed so I can't call them until tomorrow. Did anyone else's pre-op diet call for just water? I am dying for some iced tea.

Wow, that's a pretty severe diet! My pre-op diet is all liquids, but I can drink anything and have to get in 60 grams of Protein and at least 300 calories a day.

Oh, I might have sounded confusing! I drink a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and then eat a low carb meal for dinner. It says to drink only Water. I was wondering if I could have Decaf tea with splenda.

Hi:

When I was on preop diet we could have sugar free liquids of any kind. That's when I had alot of diet peach snapple. Yumm! Good luck with your banding.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
