I am actually forcing myself to eat. Not that bad. I am living on yogurt; cottage cheese; Protein Shakes and turkey chili.

Welcome to my world. (for the majority of the past 12 months)

Weird thing; I hate fried chicken and potato salad last night without issue.

Soft food gets stuck and normal food isn't a problem. I don't know whether to unfill some or not.

I guess only time will tell. Meanwhile, I will become the incredible shrinking man. :)

If you can eat chicken & potato salad, I would say no unfill. I would go with what you have for a bit.

Thanks!!

I have an appointment for a fill on July 8th. I am not starving. So, I will try and stick it out until then.

Reading some of the posts in the forum is making me realize how lucky I am that I not only like Optifast shakes, I love them.

ROFLMAO...yeah...I try not to look at all the 'sagging' and focus on the 'skinny' instead.

I don't understand!!! I had 0.8 cc removed 2 weeks ago and ate like a pig for a week but the second week I was back to healthy eating and I haven't exercised in 2 weeks because I've been so busy!! I haven't lost anything!!!!!

What's wrong with this band? I should have never had this surgery!!!!! I can't handle this stress and failure!

Christie,

Hang in there...I can 'feel' you, girl. Been there, done that (re: feeling like a failure). I finally realized that, even though I kept saying the band wasn't a magic wand, my subconscious was waiting for the band to do it's thing...like a magic wand.

Nothing wrong with the band, my friend...just the way we handle it. As for being a failure...good grief, girl, look at your ticker!! Failure? No way...awesome weight loss. Remember...this isn't a quick fix. It will take us time but in the end, with perseverance, we'll get there!

Aw sorry for the puke/starvation stage. I went through that too...but ended up eating slider foods and not losing any more weight (nor gaining it back thank God). I finally managed to find a fill level where I could eat real food but still had a limitation on the amount.

Now I avoid things like yogurt, Soups, etc. because they go down too easily and don't leave me satisfied. I need to feel 'full'. I'm back to drinking low carb/low cal Protein Shakes between meals as well which helps with only eating 3 meals per day.

Elfie-Welcome back and congrats on ONEDERLAND!

Bob-glad you can eat...and I agree with the wait it out if you are getting food in.

Karen-you rock!

Leigha-You rock too! Saw the c25k is almost done!

Christie-too funny about the bat wings...on a side note..I actually have a pet flying squirrel. His name is Gizmo and I hope to never have flaps like him :tt2:

Shad-I cut all my hair off before surgery. I'm trying to grow it back now. A couple months ago i was cursing the cat for getting hair all through the bath room...then as I was sweeping it up I looked closer and it was MINE . Good thing my hair is super thick!

Me-I opted to not have a 4th fill yet. I am losing at a decent pace and having fairly frequent bad eating days (stuff not wanting to go down) plus the PA informed me they hired someone FULL TIME mon-fri to do fills instead of just Fridays so I can get an appt much easier now :scared2:. So just gonna wait a little while longer. Saw the hematologist on Thurs and found out I do have hemochromatosis (Body stores too much iron) so now I am on the hunt for some chewable vitamins without the added Iron. I went to an amusement park thurs after my dr appt. The band didn't seem to mind it. I have been getting more heartburn than usual which had me a little worried, but then again I was making some not great food choices .

Elfie, Great to hear from you again. I read your update post. It sounds like you are in a good place right now and moving forward with "banded life." How is the garden? The trip sounds like great motivation for you.

Yes, I think I am in a good place right now. I rarely have to think about taking small bites, chewing well and swallowing that bite in 2-3 stages anymore. It's just habit. I've grown used to and content with the limitations of the band.

The garden is doing well because for the first time I have the energy...and ability...to take care of it. Aside from the physical aspect of bending over, the heat no longer bothers me as much as it did before. Amazing how the loss of 63 pounds changes your body's core temperature!

Well, back to reading later. I've noticed just going back a few pages that there are a number of people who are MIA. I'm hoping it's because they're on vacation! Off to Zumba.

Elfie--SO glad you're back!!! We really missed you!

Shammah--Any pics of the new do?

Stacie--thanks! I'm really trying to stay motivated. Doesn't help when I freaking HATE exercise.

Leigha--are you celebrating a victory right now? I'm thinking your C25K is in the final stage right? Woohoo!!

Denise--how about my shopping addiction LOL? You know it's been awhile, so what did I go out and freaking do? Yup, iPhone 4. HUGE thing for me because it means switching from Verizon, a carrier I already love, to AT&T. Hope I won't be disappointed! I have THE worst credit, so I applied online just to see (and really not thinking I'd get approved) and low and behold, that magical little screen popped up LOL. So I get it in about 2 to 3 weeks. I am not a good "waiter" so I'm thinking about seeing if I can just go out to the store LOL.

I didn't run this morning like I was suppose to. I went bowling Saturday night with my son and his girlfriend and my hamstrings have been so sore every since. OK excuses are over. I do only have 2 runs left in the C25K but I am only covering about 2.5 miles in the 30 min so I am going to start bumping my min by 2 min a week until I can run the whole 5K instead of walk 5/run 30/walk 8 that it is taking me now.

I forgot to tell y'all when I went to south Texas last week I got a box of fresh peaches and my mother in law and I canned them Sunday they are so good. I had some last night on my cottage cheese.

Karen--Congrats on the iphone, will you get the data plan, too? woohoo! fun fun...I am still loving the ipad.

My latest purchase is this (if I did the picture thing right!), but in blue topaz, set in sterling:

0900631b813d379dM.tif?wid=180&hei=180&op_usm=1.5,.8,0,0&resmode=sharp

The two outer ones are eternity rings, so I am wearing them as wedding rings. My fingers have gotten so skinny below the knuckle, I have a hard time wearing rings with stones on top, especially on my let hand. They just spin and spin. The other I wear on the right hand to match a Bracelet & earrings I picked up a couple weeks ago at the fair. Nice!

Leigha, way to go on the C25K! That is amazing. You are doing so fantastic!

I made a bunch of poor food choices last week on our "around the county tour" and enjoyed every bite. :) Back to my normal routine now.

I did get stuck on a veggie burger, which I chose because hambugers give me problems, sometimes. I think it was more the bun, and the fact that I was not paying attention to my eating as we were with friends.

Elfie---great to see you back!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
