Congratulations Lee Anne!

Welcome BobKat! Tell us a little about yourself.

Stacie--I'm glad you can eat! Eating is good.

HB--85 pounds! woo hoo!

Jacki, Karen, and Denise, --I hope the hungry monster has been leaving y'all alone. I am pretty much the same, just eating 5 small meals to deal with it. Maybe its just the spring?

Christie--Are you too tight now? Or has it relaxed some?

Dottie--Yea for skinny! Isn't it amazing how you body changes? Before I had the band when I dieted I lost weight but my body didn't get thin like it is now. Weird.

Anne--Don't let our griping about fills and being hungry scare you, when I say I am hungry now it means that I am not going 4-5 hours between meals, this is a completely different thing than before the band where I was hungry all.the.time. I ate a full plate of food and I was still hungry. So what I really mean is my band needs tweaked not that its not working.

I rode my bike to work on Wednesday and Thursday and lost a pound today. So what that means is this plateau that I am on is going to stay unless I exercise more. I have to accept the fact that I can not cut calories anymore and create weight loss. Now I am really going to have to work at it. I bought a body bugg because I really want to know how many calories I burn in an average day when I don't workout and when I do. Knowing something mathematically helps me see what I have to do. You cant argue with math. Well you can but it doesn't do any good. :o Have a great day everyone.

Greetings from your slacker BB&B member---I am sorry to have been absent; I've had a (bad) emotional couple of weeks, and have been steering clear of people because I've been a GROUCH. Not the best approach, but I hate to inflict myself on y'all when I don't have anything positive to offer. I have screwed my head back on straight, though, so here I am...

LeeAnne, congratulations on your band! I hope it's all smooth sailing for you!

OK I have some valuable advice, when you get up and are still half-ass asleep and making a strawberry smoothie with fresh strawberries you should double check that you are using the UNFLAVORED Protein Powder instead of the chicken Soup Protein powder. Chicken soup and strawberry smoothie, not good.

Day after surgery. I was sooo tired yesterday due to anti nausea meds. Today I am much better. I did get to seat some plain yogurt. Is the pain I feel in my back restriction?? I wonder. So far so good!

Hello lets see I am 48 will be 49 in Oct have three kids and 1 grandson will be married for 19 years and I have been overweight for the last 19 years of my marriage. I gained 60lbs on top of an already overweight body. I did quit smoking 22 years ago and the weight I am sorry to say started with that. I decided to take the plunged because I have an aunt who is very diabetic and due to being overweight and it just so happens to be on the side of the family who I am built like. I am looking forward to being able to turn the switch off. That will be the key to my success.

Anyhow that is a little about me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
