nichelle71 0 Posted February 27, 2010 I found out this morning I've been approved for surgery! I'm excited....elated...scared...a bundle of emotions:blink:! The surgery WAS scheduled for March but has to be pushed back to the summer now. My doctor is vacationing during March so that accounts for the delay (and I'm a teacher so no other extended days off until summer) I need advice of what to do between now and summer! That's several months and I don't want to mess up the progress I've made so far. That's plenty of time to slip back into old habits after I've worked so hard to be ultra disciplined for the last few months. I think I'll be OK because I've been really focused in preparation for this life change....but advice please, encouragement...anyone else have to wait all these months/postponed? What did you do in the interim? Thanks so much as usual for all of the love, advice and support from all of you. This is a great site to laugh, cry, vent, etc.... Blessings, Nichelle
BetsyB 9 Posted February 27, 2010 I'm sorry you were pushed back--but you might find recovery easier when you have more time. I didn't have a prolonged wait, but did have a couple of months when I was waiting (combo of waiting for approval and waiting for surgeon availability). My doctor's office had me go in for monthly weigh-ins like I did during the supervised time before approval. This helped keep me on track. It also helped me become really comfortable with my doctor and his office staff. Do you think your doctor would be supportive of something like this?
vlp1968 83 Posted February 27, 2010 Since I was self paying my surgery came up pretty quickly after my initial consultation, about a month later. I admit to pigging out the last week or two before surgery. Last mcdonalds, last mexican et.. However, since you are already in weight loss mode, I would continue on that path. Just think, every pound you loose prior to surgery, is one less pound you need to loose after. You are doing a great job! Keep it up!
