Can you see the port under the skin? Can you feel it sitting there? I would love to see some pictures of where your port if you have them.

I can't see my port and my surgeon says that I won't even when all the weight is gone. It's over the solar plexus. I can not feel it in any position and it isn't that easy to feel when you deliberately touch it. I never even think about it being there. No biggie.

Hi Jamelyn, yes I can really feel my port, in fact, I can it easily when I stand, sort of feel it when sitting, and cannot hardly feel it when I am laying down.

I am sooo disappointed with the rather large scar from the port as well. I know, with all things taken into consideration I should not be complaining, BUT, darn, I don't need another lump or bump, after all, isn't that the purpose of this surgery??? To get rid of all the lumps and bumps???:wink2:

My port is located about 2 - 3 inches under my right breast. I can definitely "feel" it when I stretch or lie on my stomach, but it doesn't hurt, it just feels odd. My scar is barely noticeable (although the scar by the port is the largest one). It has faded and when people see me without a top on (locker room, trying on clothes with friends), no one has ever looked twice. I can see the port under my skin if I stretch my arms up and pull my stomach in. It actually just looks like one of my ribs sticking out!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
