So I got banded...yay:tt2:. Everything went fast. I went to a nurse at the Army hospital. After she asked me to verifiy my name and date of birth she asked me if I wanted gastric or lap-band. It was a little suprising because I was there about my anemia. 4 months later here I am. The process didn't take that long, I just needed a date to coordinate with another health issue.

I'm nervous. I don't want to do anything to make me toss Cookies...so i'm still on clear and Protein. Being very patient and careful. I also keep getting mixed messages about what I can eat at this point!!!! GRRRR! What exactly is full liquids....do I need to blend the Soups?! Can I have baby like food....sigh...taking a nap now.:cursing:

I think baby food is more in the mushie stage. Full liquids to me means being able to pour it through a strainer. Not just get it to go through a strainer but pour through. I think it helps to think of your new stomach pouch as a strainer.

Congratulations on your band!

Congratulations - you are on the way! "Patient and careful" is the ticket - as far as those mixed messages, what is your doctor telling you? Did you get a food plan? That should be your north star. Also - visit the Food and Nutrition Forum here http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/ and look at the stickies - some of the answers to your questions should be there. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
