Firsts after being banded

Recommended Posts

Well 15 months after being banded I am finding myself walking at least 2, 3, and sometimes 4 miles in one exercise session...found myself sitting in a sporting arena chair "with Arms" and I can finally shop for clothes at a regular store...Not "Big Mens"...... Woo Hoo!!! Boy clothes are so much cheaper... And best of all, I can run around the field with my 3 yr old practicing soccer and basketball. That's the reason why I decided to be banded to be active with her and not just having to stand on the sidelines and watch. This band has so saved my life!!

Now tell me about your successes. I remember the first time I wasn't conscience about going into a restaurant wondering if I was going to "Fit" into their chairs or booths.

Oh and I had 2 ounces of cheesecake from Olive Garden last night for the first time and let me tell you it was good!

First off let me just start with congrats! What a great set of side effects along the road to your goal, as well as some wonderful quality time spent with your daughter as an active participant not a bystander.

I was able to fit in the auditorium chair at my daughter's Cello concert on Wednesday night. It has been a very long time since I was able to fit comfortably in one. When taking her shopping for jeans I decided to venture to try a pair of jeans on as well. Granted they were the largest pair of non plus sized or W pants that the old navy had on the shelf, but they fit and the waist was actually too big! I totally bought them and took in the waist a bit. Sure I won't be wearing that size for very long, but it was such a milestone I couldn't help myself--off the rack and not a W! My world is lsowly not revolving around food but rather living life--it is a big change and sometimes I have to admit I am overwhelmed at it!

My firsts... (I have had my band for 6 months so far)

1. Most memorable: fitting into a standard airline seat and then NOT having to ask for a seat belt extender!!!!

2. Tied for most memorable: going to my yearly "spread your legs fest"--aka yearly OB/GYN exam--and NOT getting a weight lecture from my doctor. (getting these lectures is exactly why overweight women do not seek out healthcare professionals!)

3. Being able to cross my legs. (not possible when you weigh over 300 pounds)

4. Buying my first pair of size 16 jean in over 10 years.

Love this thread! It's so great to talk about firsts and not how many pounds lost. I have been doing cardio and recently added weight training. I also had my diebeties medicine cut in half. I love my band, don't think I could do it without it (of course I have tried many times).

Ok, so I'm not as far ahead as some of you - but I just lost my first post-op 5 lbs! That makes 32 lbs from pre-op to present. Woo hoo!!

I can't wait until I'm posting about running my 1st mile without dying!

Thanks for this thread - btw - awesome idea!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
