8 and a half weeks pregnant and cant fit much in at all

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just wondering if it is normal to be 8 weeks pregnant and only be able to fit in a mouthful of food per sitting and having that get stuck? My food is getting stuck after 1 mouthful (no matter how much i chew it) It will then either pass or i will vomit it back up :mad2: I have boooked in a partial unfill next tuesday but i dont know if i can last that long without being able to eat anything witout it getting stuck.

Does your stomach swell or something when you get pregant?

Any help would be great! Im feeling very very washed out now from the lack of food over the past week.

Sarah

My unbanded friend who had issues eatting was told to try to get her calories in by drinking. I passed on some Protein Drinks and carnation instant Breakfast to her. You should try that in the mean time.

I am almost 10 weeks pregnant (sunday) and I haven't had any issues with food getting stuck..I drink lots of Water before I eat and it seems to so called lube my band up so I have no issues getting anything down..I am probably not going to get unfilled but I say if you can't keep anything down you def need to get unfilled some...I would get some Protein drinks like Mariposa said and try to keep those down...good luck and congrats!!

I'm almost 6 weeks preggers and from the moment I conceived, I have been getting stuck. Nothing would go down. My surgeon has already unfilled me completely. I haven't had any morning sickness and if I still don't at my second trimester, he will start filling me up again.

I had the same problem. Right away I was getting reflux and hardly could eat anything without getting stuck. I had a complete unfill which took care of both problems.

I think there's a HUGE range of normal and you just have to go with your symptoms. Hopefully by now you're able to eat something. You may need an unfill, you may not. Totally depends on the person, but don't be afraid of the unfill. It doesn't HAVE to mean massive weight gain.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
