Done standing or lying down. My tech does standing fills which I have heard are quite a bit more accurate and not done as often as fills where you are lying down. Wondered what you had done

Mine are done while standing. So far they have never had trouble hitting my port.

I've had both. My nurse was wanted to try out the standing technique and she used me as a guinea pig. She didn't get a clean stick while I was standing up and she decided to root around for my port rather than pull out and try again. The rooting around did not please me one bit and I would have been very happy NOT to have been standing at that particular moment.

I think I prefer them lying down. I find it hard to keep my balance when the nurse pushes in on my abdomen to find my port. Maybe if I were leaning against a wall it would be better....

I stand against the wall next to the fluoro. The needle is inserted and part of the saline injected. I slide over to the fluoro & he takes a look as I swallow barium. Then he adds the saline in increments, observing under fluoro as I swallow after each addition.

Works very well :)

Only had two fills so far (still in bandster hell), but both times I was lying down.

First the doctor located the port, then jabbed the needle in.

Then he drew out all the liquid in a calibrated syringe to check that the correct ammount was in there. After that he squeezed the blue Fluid back in and added some more.

Whole process was painless on both occasions and cost me £80 each time.

if i'm going in for a normal fill, i lay down but if i'm getting a fill under flouro i stand. i don't think i've noticed any difference other than when i'm given a fill under flouro they can actually watch the Fluid flowing thru the band.

Lying down...

All of my fills are done while standing up.

However, my first fill, he tried inserting the needle while I was standing but my port wasn't facing directly ahead, so he had me lay down. Then he found it and inserted the needle, then I stood for the actual fill.

Every fill since, I lay down for him to insert the needle, then stand for the fill.

I'm not lying flat or standing up, just tilted back a bit, so in the middle I guess.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
