I'm a newbie too!! I have never participated in any forums or blogs, ever! I have made the choice to go forward and have the Lapband done and am beyond excited! I met with my surgeon, the psych dr. and the nutritionist already..now just have to have all the tests done (including a Menometry?) anyone have to have the menometry? it's a swallowing test or something of that nature to see if you cna swallow properly post-op!!! if you've had it done please let me know what to expect; all I know now is they go down your nose witha tube while you're awake (ouch!):wink2: but I am willing to do it all to get the surgery done!

any hints in delaing with Blue Cross/Blue Shield would be welcomed! I am 2 months in to the 6 months waiting period:thumbup: and have strated the monthly Dr. visits (yes, consecutive)

anyway...any info. would be a HUGE help

thanks!

Hi I am also a newbie! I just need to have psych consult then it should be off for insurance approval. I am worried about the liquid diet. I am very excited to go through the process and become healthy! I am very happy to have support and be able to talk with people going through the same process!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
