His staff is the best. They are so welcoming and nice. Couldn't ask for better care. I wish all doctors' offices ran that way.

Hello! Sid is my doctor and I think he is awesome! He banded me in February 2008. When are you going to have your surgery?

Hello! I met him on May 7th for my 1st visit in this hopefully not that long process. I go back on May 22 for my 3 in 1 Dr's visit (psych, nutrition, physical) and it can't come fast enough! Trying to read as much info as I can to help prepare for what's to come. I know they then send all that info in for approval, does anyone know what happens after that...I mean test wise, if approved? He was great to talk to, he spent like 45 minutes with me, what doctor does that? lol I have to even pay my deductable & 30% because he's a ppo under my BCBSIL but I think that will be worth it as apposed to being totally covered by a general surgeon that is under my insurance. I think it's best to have a specialist, they can explain more and understand our specific needs and questions. Any advice/tips/suggestions is much appreciated, new to IL and don't really know anyone....new friends always welcome! ;-)

Hi everyone ~ Dr Sid banded me on 5/4 and I've lost 18# since my "3-in-1" visit 2 weeks before that. My 6 week checkup is 6/18, and I am already feeling pretty good about this journey! I'm in Bloomington/Normal, if anybody is nearby!

Oh gosh, it hasn't even been a week, how are you struggling? The first week is the worst, but it does get better as you see progress. Where is the support group?

Maria, I work for a BIG company and we do have good insurance. However, I started this journey in 2011, had to have my family physician follow my diet for at least six months, and he did NOT support me. So I switched doctors. Just at the end of the diet program, my insurance dropped that requirement and I was immediately approved. I was to have the surger in April, but it was scheduled a day before a wedding for a very close friend, so I postponed it until May. So, actually my "journey" was 15 months!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
