Suggestions for eating at Red Lobster?

Recommended Posts

I haven't eaten there in at least 10 years, and certainly not since I have been banded. I looked at their online menu, but nothing jumped out at me as particularly healthy.

Has anyone eaten there lately? Are they good about making your own meal out of things on their menu? Do they tend to allow a person to order off the kids menu with a band?

Its my sister's b-day dinner, and I don't want to miss the whole thing. They are having cake at the house afterwards, but will skip that.

The last time I went to RL, they had fresh catch selections, and you can have it prepared grilled. They are usually posted on a chalk board in the dining area. I would stay away from the menu and stick to their fresh catch options. Haddock and trout are favorites of mine.

The kiddie menu has mostly fried foods, so probably not a good option.

They have been very helpful in ordering the way you request. Never had a proble eating healthy there-grill without butter. I can eat shrimp easy and it is low in calories. I just get tempted by their bisquits.

Thanks everyone! Maybe I will splurge and have lobster. Of course once I get there I am really just going to order fish grilled no butter. The bread will stay FAR away from me!

I find that crab and scallops are so much easier for me to eat than any other meat. My band is pretty tight. Enjoy the social time and the seafood!

RL is my "Mother Ship" LOL I eat there at least once a week. You can order anything in any quantity you want to. re: I'll get 2 coconut shrimp and a skewer of Scallops ( grilled, no butter ) Then next time I'll have a skewer of grilled shrimp and a add on size ( .5 pound) of crab legs. Last week i ordered a Main Lobster tail and shrimp skampi. Of course, I cant eat the biscuts, and My system doesnt like salad anymore. They're very good about ordering ala carte.

Enjoy !!!! :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
