I have been banded for about 2 years now and have not lost all that much weight, and receintly have put about 20 pounds back on. My fault really. I eat all the wrong foods, drink with all my meals so they are the same size as before and take in alot of liquid caleries overall. To be honest with you I didn't realize I would need so much self control after the surgery. Anyways the reason for my post is that I have been experiencing really bad pains. It started a couple weeks ago on my right side under my rib cage. I went to the doctor and all of my labs were fine, so I went on liquids for a few days and the pain went away. Now the pain is back, but this time on the right side of my ribcage, and this time it feels like it is right where my band is. The last week I have been REALLY overeating and eating way to fast. I am really wondering if I have streched out my pouch. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I look on here for threads that were already here and couldn't find any. Anyone have any answers?

It is very hard to eat the right foods......I know. Nobody can really tell you what is wrong w/ you. You should just insist that your doc checks things again. Does yyour doc know that your over eating ect? You must be honest. I hope you get this figured out. For now you should try to stick w/ your plan & see if that does the trick. :-)

Please be very candid with your doctor about your eating habits so that he can know how best to evaluate your pain.

It could be band-related. It could be gall bladder related. It could be any number of things.

Give him all the information you can so he can best pin down what is going on.

After the pain issue is conquered, he can also help you get back on track, eating-wise, so that you can enjoy the success you aimed for when you started down the path to banding. You can do it.

Do you still have your gall bladder? Does the pain happen after a meal most of the time? After fatty foods? If so, could be your gall bladder. Very common in overweight people. Call your doc!

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
