Teacher07 3 Posted February 24, 2010 It is so funny how each doctor has their own ideas on things. My doctor actually encouraged coffee as a great way to get in my daily Water intake.
shadst8 8 Posted February 24, 2010 My doc said to drink Decaf because of the stimulating hunger thing. I still go to Starbuck and ask for a caramel macchiato--decaf, nonfat milk, sugar-free caramel--I add a little splenda and half and half good and it actually took my appetite

rd77 0 Posted February 24, 2010 I got the following from the Lap-Band AP System website, Resource Center: The Question of Caffeine If you search the words "caffeine," "coffee," and "Lap-Band" on the Internet, you'll find a lively debate about whether people with the LAP-BAND® System should cut back-or cut out-caffeinated drinks. Most experts say it's not necessary to ban caffeine, but you should use a little restraint. For most people, a cup in the morning, and a cup or two later in the day are okay-check with your doctor. CynthiaMTR 2 Posted February 24, 2010 I was just banded yesterday, and when i asked my doctor about coffee he said it was an appetite stimulant as well. Decaf coffee was on my bariatric surgery menu in th hospital so im assuming at least decaf is OK. thats the first thing i had this morining, 2 oz of decaf coffee with regular sugar. Also when my doctor was suggesting Protein Drinks she gave me a packet of Unjury and she mentioned it makes a great mocha when mixed with coffee. that made me happy because i need my coffee everyday. Whillow 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks for all the advice - I was never a "i must have coffee in the morinng" type for girl so it was fairly easy to give up - but i would like a cup once in a while... Thank you !
onyah 0 Posted February 25, 2010 My surgeon said that the reason he advises patients to lay off caffeine after surgery is to keep you from getting dehydrated. When I went in for my two-week post-op checkup, he said that I could have caffeine again. I'm trying to stick to just one cup each morning, though!
