Hi,

I drink 2 cups regular per day and probably another 2 of Decaf (in winter)...my doctor said no more, but am allowed that much.

I did not drink until about 1 month after surgery.

I drink Decaf and am enjoying me second cup of the day as we speak..... I only drink it when the weather is cold so It's my wintertime beverage... I like it mainly so I can hold the hot coffee cup in my hands to keep them warm....My Dr has a coffee pot in the waiting room and everyone is allowed to have some while waiting for appointments.... I see a lot of bandsters getting some before and after their fills.....

HOWEVER,

The only thing my Dr said about coffee was to drink it black or with artificial sweetner only.... I can't do that so I still add my Fat Free French vanilla and my Splenda.... I think he was concerned about adding in empty calories...

I drink 2- 1/2 cups of black coffee every morning. I can't drink fast first thing so I only get 1/2 a cup at a time or it gets cold. (I gave up beer for gods sake! Isn't that enough?!? You can't have my coffee too!)

My coffee is the one thing I still allow myself to have. I only drink one cup a day and don't always finish that cup. I use splenda and my regular flavored Creamer. That is my treat!!

I drink 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning with Truvia and skim milk. The hot beverage helps to clear the mucus out too!

Before I was banded, my doc said no caffeine. I asked why and he said it increases hunger in many patients so he doesn't recommend it. It doesn't increase my hunger, so I never gave it up. I have been drinking coffee since I was 2. I drink it consistently all day long. Heck, I would walk around with a caffeine IV, if possible. :w00t:That doesn't mean I say everyone should drink it, but I do.

My dietician and surgeon said NO CAFFEINE for 6 months...it can errode the band. Those of you drinking coffee, check with your doctor.

I had to quit coffee, and it really helped my pre-op weight loss - it was an appetite stimulant for me. I am now 1 year out, very close to goal, and have just recently been allowing myself a "regular" americano in the AM again. Black. . . . but i have found that if I have that in combo with fruit for Breakfast, I am much hungrier all day. A good cup of Decaf is great, or a half-caff americano!

Some say that, mine just said it is an appetite stimulant and that is why. It doesn't stimulate my appetite, so I drink it. It is doubtful that caffeine itself causes the erosion, but possible your stomach's response to it. coffee doesn't increase acid production for me, but weirdly, chocolate does. How lucky is that? I recently realized I can't eat chocolate!:)

I was a huge coffee drinker before surgery, but doctor said Decaf only. don't know why but I listened and switched to decaf a month before surgery. So now instead of 3 - 4 cups of coffee a day I drink one decaf in the morning with sugar. That I coudn't give up.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
