Consultation on March 8th.

Recommended Posts

I have my consultation on March 8th and my pre-op on March 16th and then my surgery on April 13th.

I am not really sure what to expect. I won the Lap-Band® surgery on my local radio station (that still sounds weird and I have now been saying it for two weeks), so I am not sure what I am going to have to have done (tests-wise) since there is no insurance and I am not self-pay.

I do know that I have to do the liquid diet for two weeks before the surgery. I get back from vacation on March 27th and start the liquid diet on March 28th.

I have no idea what to expect. I am very excited, I would never be able to afford this surgery on my own and my insurance wouldn't cover it.

The surgeon, Dr. Sidney Rohrschrieb is a good surgeon and well-known around here, so I am not worried about his expertise, and his staff has been wonderful.

I guess that I will just have to wait until the 8th to get all my answers.

This site has been so helpful, I appreciate everyone who has taken time to share their experience and their knowledge. Hopefully, I will be able to do the same in the near future.

I just had my first visit/consult with Dr. Sidney Rohrschrieb this past monday. I went to see him at his Clinton office. He is nice..everyone there is great. I'm jealous you won it!! How cool! Yet, a little strange! I wish I could have mine as soon as you are.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
