Manda87 3 Posted February 22, 2010 I haven't had my surgery yet, but I called my doctor and asked how long should I take off. I needed to know this so I can give my work a lot of notice. I am a certified nursing assistant. I'm on my feet and very active the whole day. I do a lot of lifting. My doctor said that I wouldn't have any lifting restrictions, and only suggested 14 days off. Hmmm... I'm confused. So, I guess I will tell my work that my surgery is on the 7th of April and I'll be coming back on the 27th. Any suggestions?

h.landry85 0 Posted February 23, 2010 It depends on the person & the type of work you do. I had my surgery on Thursday, 2/4, and I'm returning to work on Thursday, 2/25. My surgeon was allowing me to go back on 2/22, but my Short Term leave was approved through my work until the 24th. So, alas, I'm going back on the 25th with a light return. I work in retail, so I'm on my feet for 8 hours & we lift furniture. I'm only allowed to lift up to 10 lbs for the next 2 weeks. Once those 2 weeks are up, I'm in the clear. Hope this helped!
