I am getting banded 3/18, starting pre-op diet in a few days, and I have a new mantra: NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS BEING THIN IS GOING TO FEEL!!!

I am getting banded in a month or so.. and I am a "foodie" I love to cook.. love to eat.. all that. But I also love being thinner and feeling better . I need to do this for my health..I know it.

Anyone regret the band? I keep wondering how I will feel after I get this band.. will I just be very unhappy?

I know losing the weight will feel wonderful... I just have these unsure feelings... I worry.. :smile2:

I'm in my 4th year. I wouldn't describe myself a foodie, but I'm married to one - he's also an expert on imported wines and has never had a weight problem.

My experience is that I now have a healthy relationship with food. I dine. I enjoy great food. I finally taste my food, not that I've slowed down. For me what has changed is the volume. I cook more now, and no longer feel guilty about enjoying food. I love banded living.

This is such a great thread. I bet I've read it at least 4 times now.

My surgery date is coming up fast. I've quoted your posts to my husband and concerned family members. You're comments have not only encouraged me, but they've helped put my family more at ease.

Thank you Ninababy for starting this thread and to all of you who have taken the time to help ease our minds.

I,too, am scheduled for March 9th @ 7:30 am. I'm in NJ and surgery will be done by Allied Surgical Group in Morristown. I am self-pay and the process is going very quickly. I had my consultaion on Monday, approved for financing yesterday, and had bloodwork done today. I'm excited. I wish you all the very best.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
