Totally devastated

If your co-worker has just quit smoking, she is probably cranky and making you feel bad makes her feel better, when deep down inside she's feeling like crap.

Be the better person...38 lbs is such an accomplishment and a motivation to me, who is only 2 day post-op. I only wish I was at the point I have losted 38 lbs pounds already. Keep up the great work! Focus on how your doing great and how many other people you are inspiring.

P.S. You didn't do it for nothing...you did it for yourself...and that's all that matters! :wink2:

I have to agree with a lot of the postings I see here. Does your co-worker have a weight problem herself? It's hard for those who have never had to cope with being obese to connect with our journey. My stepmother used to go absolutely nuts if she gained 5 or 10 pounds...but she was thin to start with, so in perspective, that was a big gain for her, and hard to get back off.

I also smile when I hear about people on WW, etc., who tell us that they are losing weight the "hard way". This is my second day post-op, walking my hallway last night, in so much discomfort with all that CO2 sitting under my diaphragm...now, THAT'S the hard way, folks!!

With persistance and patience, we will achieve success. Even the WW crowd struggles with plateaus (I sure did!). The heck with whatever anyone else says- you had the courage to do this, knowing that turning back would not be an option. Your weight loss to date ROCKS!!!

Hugs, Christine

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
