I've been trying to eat something solid for lunch instead of my usual Protein shakes but have a pretty busy schedule and am terrible about planning ahead. Lately my lunch has either been a bit of tuna salad (tuna, just enough lite mayo to moisten it, minced onion, dill) with a few garlic melba toast rounds or a cup of Tomato Soup with 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich. I've also had a couple ounces of cheese, again with some garlic melba rounds and some tiny dill pickles.

We've just been introduced to the joys of chicken in a can down here in Australia, lol. What fantastic stuff! I took the end bit of an avocado from home, half a can of chicken (DH had the other half in a sandwich) and five wholegrain crackers. It made a nice lunch!

I make small salads the night before - lettuce, cucumber, red onion, muschroom, some avocado, a tbspn or so of grated cheese, some pine nuts), take a can of tuna or chicken, and a small dressing container with just a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper in it, and dump it all together at lunch time, its delicious, my fave lunch actually.

I also often take cheese and crackers - good cheeses like some camambert, havarti and goats cheese, and grapes, or I do make batches of frozen Soups too - zucchini and leek this week as someone gave me a HUGE zucchini that they grew.

Its just a matter of getting organised the night before and knowing what you're going to take.

I'm not very far into my lapband journey but I found making a healthy dinner, and always leaving enough for lunch the next day, putting it in a container as you serve yourself dinner, and popping it straight in the fridge... that way you know you have lunch sorted.

Also, making a quick salad, and bringing a tin of tuna or mixed Beans to add at lunch time.

The Laughing Cow light cheese is handy to have if you want to add it to crackers with Tomato and cucumber or gherkin.

If you like tomato - chopped baby roma tomotos, light feta cheese, red onion, spring onion, garlic, S&P, fresh herbs (I use mint, parsley, basil and corriander) all mixed up make a great base to add things like beans, chickpeas, tuna or even as a sandwich filling on some rye bread.< /p>

hope this helps...

Oh also forogt to say yummy Avocado and Egg salad... avo's, eggs hard boiled, add in onions and herbs to taste. for the dressing i mix light cottage cheese with a good dollop of mustard and pepper (paprika if you like) and mix all together. Very filling and delish!

I eat a lot of Bocca products I like them because they are alot lower in calories and fat then regular meat and I enjoy the fact that the product is already pre-cooked and measured (if you purchase the patties) when I buy the Bocca Crumbles I usually eat that with low carb wraps. I got this one recipe from HungryGirl.com It's one low carb wrap with Bocca Crumbles, 2 tbsp of chopped dill pickles, 1 slice of fat free cheese and a couple squirts of ketchup. I don't know why but I love this wrap I guess I get tired of chicken and turkey all the time.

Banded 10-7-09, Start Wt:242lbs., Current Wt:228.4, Goal Wt:130lbs.

Total of 4cc. No restriction yet. Going for a fill this Thursday.

What does the Boca products taste like? I'm a picky eater, but these look good. I just don't know if I would like them.

Well I am not a picky eater but I can say I usually hate fat free foods you also need to keep in mind this is a meatless product. I think the texture and flavor is excellent for a meatless product, and yes I eat meat all the time I just love the convience of this product. You really do have to dress this product up a bit like the meat patties I always add fat free cheese, lettuce, Tomato, pickle and ketchup on a grilled bun. I am still careful to read the labels some of thier options are still a little high in fat in my opinion but when you compare it to a fast food burger or thier chicken patty to a fried chicken sandwich you really do come out ahead.

Right now my work schedule is crazy so I am eating Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the office.

On Sundays I usually cook 1 or 2 meals and then divide those out into individual servings so I have 6 or more (me and my roommate usually make a meal out of something i've cooked before it goes in individual containers) ready to go and in the fridge for a quick fix. Yesterday I made the crockpot ranch that juliansmom posted along w/ steamed broccoli and oven roasted cajun sweet pototoes. The chicken cooked while I was out running errands, the broccoli took about 10 mins, and the sweet pototes actually took about 40 mins, but well worth it and I could do other stuff while they were baking. (only about 5-10 mins prep)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
