Hi Err body!

I am in my second week of liquids and I've been drinking Special K protien shakes...they are delicious! However, I feel like they have to many carbs and stuff. Have any of u had them, what are your thoughts?

Hey, I also have drank the special k shakes and I agree they do taste good!! My dr. told us that we needed 30 grams of Protein per meal and three meals a day. Those shakes have 10 grams per shake. You should refer to the preferences of your dr. , everyone is different. If I were to use the Special K shakes I would need 9 of them a day and the calories would be off the chart! But I do love the taste so I might have one once and a while for a snack. I suggest trying a large variety of shakes, in samples lots of companies sale samples and that is how I found one that didn't upset my stomach and that I actually liked! Good Luck!

I compared these with my protien poweder and skim milk shakes,,,

the choc special k has 190 cals, 5 grams fast , 29 carbs and 18grams of sugar and 10 grams Protein.

100% whey Protein powder from GNC made with 10 oz skim milk... 238 cals, 3 fat,20 carb , 13 sugar and 36 protien.

if you were using it for only Breakfast and was able to get another 60 grams of Protein in a day on your own,, then the numbers arnt too too far off from regular shakes.< /p>

I for on need that big chunk of protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
