Refried beans a slider food?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone consider refried Beans a slider? I seem to get full eventually but wonder if it is more because it is heavier food. I've gained a few pounds since I added it in so I wondered.

Are you eating the FF canned Beans at home or ordering them at a Mexican restuarant? The beans prepared at Mexican restuarants are full of fat which adds calories.

For me, yes they were. I started eating them once a day after reading everyone else on the board eating them. My weight loss was affected so I stopped and I started back down the scale again.

I've eaten the FF refried Beans from a can and had no problems at all. I believe I had 1/4 C as a side with 3 oz. of chicken, I've also had it with cottage cheese. I was full from that and had no problems. I did make some beans myself and mashed them. I don't know what the difference was, but I got very ill feeling from my own beans. My nutritionist had told me though, that it was ok to eat the ff canned refried beans. I also like to add a little salsa or taco sauce to them. Yum!

I eat them too. They seem to stay with me a long time and I fill up fairly quickly on them. I add the salsa too. Yummy!

I'm also a refried Beans eater. I'll have a 1/2 cup with low fat shredded cheese and some fat free sour cream. Love 'em. So happy I can have them. The funniest thing, I looked at the nutrition value of the Fat Free and the Regular and honestly, there isn't TOO much of a difference. So I don't sweat it if the store doesn't have the Fat Free. The regular can is okay too.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
