Recommended Posts

i had my 5th fill yesterday bringing me to 3.4 cc and i ate Soup last night. today for Breakfast i ate 1 scrambled egg and noticed i did not have any discomfort with it going down (usually evey morning when it 'hits' the band i can FEEL it) then for lunch i brought 2 pieces of chicken- a leg and a thigh and was able to eat BOTH of them PLUS some broccoli WITHOUT getting full. (and i never felt it 'hit' my band and stop) i could NOT have eaten this much before the fill and i am worried that my port is leaking!!!! i brought the 2nd peice to have for dinner and now i am dinnerless and worried????

i know it has only been 24 hours but it seems i am actually looser with this fill:( :D :D

Michelle

I just had my 2nd fill. It was this doctor's first blind fill he had ever gave. It went very smooth! He removed all the saline first, in his words "to make sure there are no leaks. I should get close to the same amount of the first fill", which I did(1.75cc).

I let him give me a total of 3.5ccs. I have an AMI band which is 11mm tall, verse Inamed band which is 6.75mm tall.

I learned alot today including when the band is placed, its like a tie-wrap and is adjusted per the size of your stomach. A larger stomach would have the band wrapped loser. Thus the fill amounts are different for everyone.

I never thought of leaks at only 3 months, but it could happen.

I'm just learning. I'm not going to try to eat anything for a few days, I'll see how it gos.

How do you get your fills?

Good luck

i have 'blind fills' and they did check to see that all the fill was there from before. i was at 3.2 before and felt pretty tight but i was hungry in about 2-3 hours so i thought i needed just a little more so i would only want 3 meals a day. i am just a little nervous i guess... PLEASE LET ME TIGHTEN BACK UP!!!!!

Hi Michelle -

I don't know how it's been with your other fills, but perhaps this one will just take a few days to kick-in? Perhaps you're just having one of those unexplained loose days?

My fills take about 4 weeks to kick-in. My last fill was 10/4, and only this week am I really, really tight. It has been a struggle to get in all of my Water, which is very unusual for me. My stomach feels... tired, I guess is the best word. Full, and tired. lol

Hopefully you'll tighten back up "au naturelle."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
