Yes I was really was worried before surgery but am so glad I went through with it. I still get frustrated when I get on the scale but then i sit back and realize how much I really have lost in the last month to month and half and then I am happy.

Hello Kansas City Bandsters!

I was banded on April 23 in Cancun, Mexico and am scheduled for my first fill 2 weeks from today. I cannot wait!

I live North of the River near Worlds of Fun

Had my first stuck episode yesterday with a bite of chicken I apparently did not chew well enough. It hurt like hell! Eventually it had to come up as it was not going to go down. More than 24 hours later I still feel sore from it and ate only mushy stuff today and will do the same tomorrow if I still feel sore.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello!

Hi Windus and Welcome,

Congratulations to banded living. Having a stuck epidsode is a part of your learning experience to know how your band will work with you.

What physician will handle your fills?

Lots of friends here to help you along the way.

Joyce

Hello everyone and a big thank you Ladykcusa for starting this thread. It is so nice to have bandster close to home. I was banded on 4/17/10 at New Hope by Dr. Hitchcock. New Hope's staff, including the doctors, were fantastic. In and out and home in less than eight hours and I felt as if I were the only patient that day, but I know I wasn't. Other than being sore, minor pain the first few days, have had no problems. Had my first fill on Thursday, 5/6/10 and scheduled in two weeks for another. So far, everything is great and now will have to change my name because I'm feeling more like 45. Gosh only knows how I will feel once I take off even more weight. Maybe 18:>) Anyway, glad KC has a thread site. I live in Independence, but born and and have lived most of my life in Kansas until 2000.

That's a really good question, I probably should call and ask, lol. I would rather go to the one up North as that is closer to me.

Not sure if Mitch does fills out there but he is amazing, and the only one that I would fill with.

Hello everyone. Welcome to the new bandsters that have found our thread. I am feeling a little bummed. I thought my first fill was last Thursday (5/6) but I was wrong it is this Thursday. I am so looking forward to getting it. I have not really lost any weight in the last two weeks. I have been bouncing back and forth between 29 and 32 lbs lost. I have also noticed that I am eating a little bit more than I had in the past several weeks and I am not staying full between meals. On a happy note...I went the the zoo this last week with my son and his kindergarten class and I was surprized at how well I did with all the walking. We did use the tram to Africa and back but still it is a lot of walking and I felt I did a pretty good job of keeping up with him. Have a great week everyone.

OldOne - so happy to hear you are pleased with your band. Feeling like 45 is wonderful.

I agree and have the same feeling. Much more energy, so happy that I made the decision to have the band.

Kendra - Celebrate 30+ lbs. You will continue to lose once the fills begin. Remember (before the band) how many times we lost 10 and gained 15. Now we lose and the weight might fluctuate a little, but STAYS off.

Be patient - when you are discouraged, look at some of the photos and see all the other successes. You will have success too.

Keep up the good work and continue to make good choices, KC Banders.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
