Surgery is done! I had mine yesterday at about 9 am and went home last night at about 1100 pm. Very little soreness. I'm glad the day finally came. Have been waiting for this day for a long time and now it has happened.

Congrats Jon! I hope you are doing well! I am going to get my band on May 18th and CAN'T WAIT!! I started my 1200 calorie diet on May 4th and am starving! Luckily I only have to be on liquids for 2 days pre-op. I'm excited to find everyone on this site and sounds like a lot of us will be banded the same week!:thumbup:

:cool2:To all my fellow May Bandsters:

Had my surgery on 5/3 and woke up in recovery to hear my DR say, "I am so sorry, but we were not able to band you today. You had too much scar tissue on stomach and bowel. We had to clean you out and now we have to wait for you to heal for 2 months and then we can try this again"!!

REALLY!! That stung.....AND HURT!!

But I will have to wait and now be a July Bandster. Thanks for all your stories and I will keep on looking to see how everyone is doing!! :thumbup:

I'm so sorry, that's disappointing. Now you have a new date to look forward to and hope for. Don't be too discouraged, It wasn't time and it didn't happen. It will come in 2 months and everything will be fine.

Tomorrow is my day and up until now I've been calm. I am truly scared today. I've never had any form of surgery and outside if weight issue I only have sleep apnea. It will also be my first stay at a hospital which I have to do because of my sleep apnea. I think ill be up all night. I'm starring to het somewhat scared.

~~~ my surgery date is May 10th please keep in touch all of my support has fallen off..... aretha_givens@yahoo.com
Ms. Determined, hang in there, you're almost there! Let us know how it goes tomorrow!
Amie226, I'm in the same boat - never had surgery before, and my only non-weight issue is sleep apnea too (though that's a weight-related issue). I'm sure it will be hard to sleep tonight, but maybe try to focus on the long-term goal and why you're doing this in the first place. If nothing else, know that you're not alone - we're all pulling for you and hoping you'll report back soon from the other side to give us support!
      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
      Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞
      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
