Okay so I was banded on Jan 11th 2010. The first four weeks I lost 26 lbs and was so excited.....and in the last week I haven't lost a thing! This happen to anyone else? I'm only eating between 550-750 calories a day...how is it possible to not be losing? Going next thursday for my first fill hopefully.

That is so exciting that you have lost 26 pounds.I am staying away from the scale because it depresses me when I dont lose more. Maybe stay away from the scale . Just try thinking about making yourself health. Im sure it will come off if your calorie intake is that low.I get my first fill March 4. Dont get discouraged...

Given how limited your calories are that could be the issue. Perhaps you should talk to your nutritionist. I stalled about a month in because I simply wasn't getting in enough calories. They say your body can also go into starvation mode and hold onto your body weight a lot longer if you aren't eating enough. Take it easy though, you might not loose every week, but every other week or so is just as sweet!!

Best,

Lauren

It definitely sounds like you need to up your calories some. I eat 1200-1500 per day. You can add some by adding a couple of healthy Snacks each day. When you go in for a fill, discuss this with your doctor and see what he/she says.

I think you're getting enough calories. I was banded on 01/27/10. Though I have only lost 3-4 lbs since surgery, I look a lot thinner. I have been struggling to get to 1200 calories a day. Most of the time, I only get 700-800 calories. I noticed that when my intake was between 1000-1200 calories, my weight would go down. Now that I'm on the pureed food stage, I am working harder to get the proper calorie intake. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
