I haven't used the name brand Gardenburgers, but I have used Morningstar veggie products and they've gone down just fine. They are a good source of Protein, plus it gets me a serving of vegetables in as well.

Best,

Lauren

I find them really easy to go down, alot easier than meat. As long as you don't over cook them, they can be very tender. You still have to chew, chew, chew, like always, but not has tough as w/ meat.< /p>

Best,

Lauren

I've had several of the Morning Star products, and I like some better than others. I don't think they are sliders at all as you have to chew them just like you would normal meat. However, I have an issue with the texture of some of their products (at least the Italian Sausage) as it seems kind of soft for me. I'm really weird when it comes to texture. If it feels "odd" to me, I'm not going to eat it. That's the reason I can't stand cottage cheese. Ugh, that stuff is nasty to me (due to texture - but if I blend it and mix it with ranch dressing mix - it's okay).

I like the Morning Star BBQ riblets, they are sort of like McDonalds McRibs. Be very careful not to over cook it because if you do, it's like eating rubber, it just ain't going down!

I haven't eaten beef or pork in about 23 years, and these are a staple of my diet (I am pre-band.)

I think they are very good, but from what I can recall, they don't taste like "meat." They are substantial and have the texture of a meat product, but when I eat them, I don't feel like I am having an actual burger.

I like both Morningstar Farms and Boca. Surprisingly, I am not fond of the Trader Joe's brand. I usually love their stuff.

In my freezer I have the portabello mushroom flavor MF and the Boca Spicy Chik'n Patties. I put them on a bun (again, I'm pre-band) with all the fixins and it works for me. Guess I just decided what I'm having for lunch.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
