Eating frenzy

Recommended Posts

I just finished up my 6 months weight loss program and the only appointment I have left is the cardiologist on March 12th. Then everything will be submitted to the insurance for approval so I am hoping for an April surgery date. The problem is all of a sudden I want to eat everything in sight!!! I don't know if it is nerves or what but I feel like I cannot get satisfied and afterwards I feel terrible!:(

I can empathize, Mimi. The last month before my surgery, I binged non-stop. I was afraid of the surgery. I knew I was standing on the precipice of a major life change, and I knew I was saying goodbye to my previous relationship with food: how I ate, when I ate, how often I ate, how much I ate and what I ate.

Be kind to yourself. Forgive yourself. Talk about how you feel with people who care about you, and get all the hugs you can - and keep putting it out here, because we understand. Meanwhile, April is coming.

Bandpal is a smart man!

I think some people refer to it as the "last supper" mode. You want to eat things thinking "this is the last time I may get to eat this".

I understand completely.

Thanks for the replies, Guys. It helps to hear that others have experienced the same feelings. I am actually looking forward to getting the call saying "Start your pre-op diet" and not be in this limbo anymore!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
