Help; not getting full

Recommended Posts

I am not getting full after 4 ounces. I have tried to stop but then it is not fulling me up. I am hungry after about 3 hours but I try to do the right thing.

I got my first fill 2/5 - 2.5cc's; 2nd fill 2/9-1.4cc's; But gosh darnit I am still hungry. Not to mention my hubby took me to the Cheesecake Factory this past weekend and I did the right thing by ordering one of their weight management salads. But I ate the entire salad and still was hungry; I ate some of the bread; then I just stopped b/c I knew it was wrong. But gosh on my way home; I ate 1/2 of the slice of cheesecake my husband took to go.

HELP MEEEEEE; WHAT DO YOU THINK I NEED TO DO?

Well I have only one thing I can tell you based on my my own experience. I did not got any real restriction until my 6th fill. I was just patient with myself and my Dr. I finally got there and I am finally losing weight after hitting a wall. Just keep telling yourself that it will get better and nothing is going to happen over night.

The same thing happened to me once I was able to eat solids. I went to taco bell and ate 2 burritos and tacos and was like what the heck am i doing knowing it wasnt right. You will get to that sweet spot it might just take awhile. I have the AP large with 9.8cc in it and just got to my sweet spot.

You will do great!!!!

4 oz doesn't seem like enough. I have been told a cup of food for each meal. Sometimes I feel the same way. This weekend I had fondue and I think b/c the process is so drawn out that I was able to eat way more than I am supposed to so I called to get an appointment for an adjustment...then yesterday and today, I feel like anytime I eat something it gets stuck, so I canceled my appointment! I don't know, it is all still new to me so I decided I should wait a while longer before getting a 2nd fill.

Try to focus on eating the right things, I am sure you were given food options. You may eat more of it until you get restriction but you will be on your way. Even if you don't loose much at least you shouldn't gain. Best of luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
