Just wondering how much weight people lost in their first week post-op. I know my body is healing and what not but I havent lost a single pound since the day of my surgery. Is this normal? It is just hard to believe seeming Im on pure liquids. Any input would be great!

I gained 4lbs. in the hospital from all the fluids they gave me. After I lost that I lost another 10lbs. But everyone is different. I wouldn't sweat it. Just take time to heal!!!

I lost all of my weight with the pre/post op diet. Since I had my first fill in December I have not lost any pounds. In fact I have gained four.

But, to my credit, I have gone down a pant size

I feel your frustration! I'm only 3 days out and I'm up one pound. The day after surgery I was up 7 pounds so I guess I'm on the right track but I was expecting to lose 7-10 pounds the first week. I guess we'll have to be patient and wait it out. I know people are going to say it's only been a week but I know how you feel!

Yes, people will tell you to relax. I understand you are anxious but really you need to know this is NOT a magic fix that will suddenly make you skinny. You need to put in the work to see the results and right now your body is healling so you CAN"T put in the work. Once you are able to put in the work I promise you will see results. Until then best of luck to you!

I know how frustrating it is to lose so much so quickly in your pre-op diet and then it's like you hit a brick wall. Try to be patient pretty soon you will be in bandster hell where I am now and it sucks. I'm having to work my @ss off just to keep the pounds I've already lost off. Just try to heal and start a walking program as soon as you can. My dr said for the first 2 weeks to just try and walk around the house for like ten minutes at a time 3 times a day. You can do it. Just think in a year you might not even recognize yourself.

Oh I totally understand that this is not a magic fix. I did plenty of research to understand this. I just figured that seeming I have had such a low calorie intake in the last week that I would see some results, and I do understand that my body is healing, I was just wondering if the same thing happens to everyone since I have never had this experience before. congrats on the 82 lb weight loss! How great that must feel! What type of exercise are you doing?

My surgeon told me before I had surgery not to be surprised or frustrated if I didn't lose any weight for a month or two after surgery. He said he has seen there is something about women and the lapbad that it seems to just take a while for the weight to start coming off. Also, remember that your body is going to do everything it can to keep you from starving to death and it doesn't understand that you are on such limited calories for a reason and it will take time to adjust.

my doc said upon discharge from hospital dont be concerned if you dont lose anything in the first month, focus on healing...the band is for food restriction not to worry bout it the first month. just what my doc said....although ive lost 7lbs since being home...

I gained weight between my surgery and my first fill. Then I started losing, then plateaued so I went for my second fill, did really well (had good restriction) now I have lost more and the restriction has worn off so I didn't lose any weight last week so back for another fill tomorrow. Its a process.

Leigha, I totally agree this is a loooong process. From the time we start the Preop diet to the surgery, to the first fill, then no restriction, then the second fill, then some restriction and on and on and on. If anyone ever tells me that getting the Lap Band is the easy way out I think I'll shoot them...lol. We really have to work the band and banded life (especially in the beginning) is not an easy way out!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
