4 weeks Post Banding..Lost 22lbs..Now Gaining!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4 weeks ago and getting ready to resume normal food tomorrow. I initially lost 22 lbs post banding (weeks 1-3) but noticed that I have been gaining weight (5 lbs) in the last week. Last couple of weeks I have been eating soft food but small plates, no beverages 15 minutes prior 60 minutes after meal, not more than 1500 calories a day, etc, etc....

Should I be concerned or weight fluctuations normal ? My next doctor's visit is in a couple of weeks. Is this an indication that I should get a fill?

Completely normal for lots of people. At four weeks I completely stopped losing anything and stayed like that for weeks longer. Then I had my first fill, and it just started dropping. Your first fill should be done on the timeline your doctor suggests. Your body has just lost a ton of weight at one time and it is adjusting. Mine did that all along... drop a lot then stall for months, then drop, then stall. It was annoying sometimes, but now looking back I realize how important the stalls were for my self-awareness and knowledge.

Congratulations on doing wonderful things for yourself!

Yup, I'm similar, I'll lose 2-3 in 1 week, gain back 1 or 2, then hold steady a couple weeks, I guess while everything evens out. After my initial post-op loss when I started semi-normal foods, I gained 5 in a week, even though I was exercising and eating 1200-1300 calories a day. Sometimes I think my body is 2-3 weeks behind my scales.< /p>

Yup, yes, normal. I just had my second fill and am just now having restriction. And I was hungry! It was everything I could do to not gain anything. I only maintained. Didn't gain. But many people do gain. So, in answer to your question, yes, people gain. But if you're careful you can maintain or even lose a little more. Best wishes!!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
