    • I won't miss a minute of the action. My coffee maker will be working overtime.
      3
    • I'll only watch my favorite sport(s).

    • I will watch if they come on and the clicker is not within reach and I already did my exercise for the day.

    • I may catch a glimpse as I quicly change the station or turn the TV off.

    • None! I am pissed that the Biggest Loser is on hiatus because of this crap!

I'm curious again. This usually gets me in trouble.

I voted I may catch a glimpse but quickly change the channel.

I find stuff like the Olympics on TV as boring as batshit, to be blunt. Hate it. I'd rather watch paint dry. I am not a spectator, I'd rather be doing. I dont have the Aussie love of tennis or footy either (Australian rules).

The only sport I will watch on telly is the odd marathon/race when its televised. And usually only ones like the Sydney city to surf becuase I'd really like to do it. I've got little interest in people running through cities I dont know.

The whole thing pisses me off.

Having elite level sports where one participant who is a couple hundredths of a second faster than another is considered a "winner" where the other isn't, is ridiculous.

Winners and losers, all at great expense.

I really have been in a snit since Vancouver decided they wanted the games. I'm across the Water on the island, however this is still the same province so it affects me.

What I would have liked to see is all that money funnelled into making sports and physical activity available for all. I would like to see parents able to provide team sports, even expensive ones like hockey, for their children. I would like to see all sorts of non competitive activities available eg. swimming and kayak instruction. I'd like to see free seniors activities like swimming, pool exercise, tai chi, yoga, whatever.

There is a small grant available for low income families to put their kids into sports but it's barely enough to cover basic soccer fees.

And there's been such an obscene amount spent that I bet it would cover music lessons for any kid who wants them, too.

There's all this talk of the spin offs the city will get with future tourism, however, someone should have consulted with previous cities, because it sounds like it wasn't nearly what they expected.

So, all my bellyaching done, no, I'm not watching. However my husband is a bit, he tends to stop there when he's channel surfing. Therefore, I did just manage to catch kd lang singing Halleluia. Sublime.

Curling.

That's really all that ever needs to be said when someone asks "Do you like to watch the Olympics?"

The curling is one of our favorites! It is like chess on ice!

Looks more like spring cleaning on ice to me :)

 lol, no kidding. My sweetie loved the winter games, and I grew to love them through his eyes.

I, myself, believe that winter should be banned. Not the olympics, mind you, winter.

Ok, the games are almost over, I'm still in kind of a snit.

This afternoon I took a carload of boys to the ferry and they went over to the mainland to partake in the Olympic festivities. They're all 17 and all good kids, but they've never done anything like this before on their own and I'm a bit nervous. (Hence me sitting up late waiting for a phone call.)

They may get the midnight ferry home or may stay there all night. My slight feeling of irresponsibility over this is negated slightly by the fact that there's safety in numbers and by the memory of what I was doing when I was 17. Yikes.

Thanks Missy, they did get home on the last ferry. By time I picked them up and dropped everyone home it was almost 4 am.

And they had a wonderful time. It was a real adventure for them. They saw the concert they wanted and visited a couple of pavilions and just walked around soaking up the ambiance.

However, they were sputtering with indignation about the Coke pavilion. They felt that they were held captive once they got in (they were actually locked into a room at one point) and that Coke was trying to "brainwash" (their words!) them. Only one of the kids drinks pop and he has vowed to never again let Coke touch his lips!!!!! (Exclamation points his; you know how emphatic kids can be).

Despite that, the overall experience was fun and empowering for them. Now they're talking about taking the bus to the city about an hour away to see concerts. This is something I have been gently trying to encourage because otherwise Mom is around (because I have to drive them, and I don't mind, I might add) and that is so uncool.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
