I had surgery on Wednesday. Worked from home for 6 hours on Sunday and went back to the office Monday and worked over 50 hours my first week back. I too have a desk job.

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and had taken the rest of the week off not thinking I would really need it. I was so tired I took the following Monday off and only worked about 5-6 hours a day for the following week. Being tired was my main issue, I just dragged for a couple of weeks.

I think that in my case I would have been able to go back to work after 4-5 days, but it is different from person to person, obviously. I walked on the treadmill for a half hour the day after surgery and felt completely normal again in a week.

I'm a teacher and had surgery over my Christmas break, so I didn't have to go back for 2 weeks.... I think I would have liked to go back to my normal routine sooner, because not being able to eat solid foods was harder being at home with nothing to do.

I'd suggest bringing something for back support. Remember posture! I recall just getting exhausted trying to stay comfortable sitting in my chair. Then I'd start to slump, and that would increase the pain.

Get up and move around as often as you can. Even if just walking for 5 minutes. Keep your Water close at hand and sip, sip, sip.

As others have said, you will not be taking in many calories, so your energy level will be low--from that and from the trauma of the surgery itself.

I will say that it is amazing what you can do when you have to do it.

I was banded on a Monday and went back to work on the following Monday. I was out and about on the Friday after surgery but found I got tired quicker. I sit behind a computer all day also. I wish I had taken 1 more week to get used to the lower intake of food and finish healing. You don't realize how much turning and stretching you do at a desk to get into drawers, reach paperwork, etc. If you have the time, I would take 2 weeks.

I go back to work tomorrow and am worried about my endurance. I have no pain just twinges here and there - I've been off of pain med's for a few days now. Pain is not what is dragging me down.......I have NO energy.

Taking a shower and getting ready wipes me out. I'm afraid by the time I do all this and take the kids to their respective schools I'll be sitting in my car at work trying to get up enough energy to go in the doors! LOL

I'm fortunate to be able to do a couple half days if I need to :)

I had Reconstructive Knee Surgry less than two weeks after I was Banded, so I am still off (well, not off really because my company gave me a laptop to work from home). If I had to go back after being banded, I would definately have needed two weeks. I have a desk job and sitting made it feel worse than being up and moving around... Working from home allows me to get up and move around and walk whenever I need to... I finally had to get a girdle around the third week and wear that for a couple of weeks and I felt much better! Each person is different so if you are only planning a few days, have a back up plan in your mind just in case... Something like half days or what not because you never know... Besides the pain you have the feeling weak factor from not being back on full foods yet... The broths/clear liquid portion was 5 days for me and theres no way I would have felt like working during that phase... It's not that I was hungry, because I wasn't but I still didn't have full energy.... Hope all my Ramblings make sense... I'm in a hurry since I have to go see my Orthopedic Surgeon now.... See ya all later and good luck with your Surgery Dear....

Had surgery on a Thursday (2/04/2010) and went back to work on Monday (sore and tired). Would encourage anyone to take a week off if possible...it just wears you down ~

I had surgery on Monday and went back the following Monday. Like others have said, I was really tired by the end of the day and wished I had taken a few more days off. At that point I was still on liquids, so I felt weak and dizzy. In my opinion that is going back a little quick but we all are different. Good luck to you what ever you choose to do.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
