Anyone experience this???

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 2-9-10 and was back in the hospital on 2-12-10. During my surgery my doctor also fixed my hernia and took a biopsy of my esophagus. Well anyway, I am still in the hospital today and can not drink or eat anything without getting very, very sick. My doctor believes that I have swelling in my band and esophagus and may do surgery again on Tuesday. My choices are to either have the band re-positioned or removed. This is so crazy and I am so regretting that I did this. Also, very hungry.

Your not the only one. Here is a link to an old thread that has some others with the same problem. I am one of them.

I kept mine and I suffer from swelling all the time. I don't know if I will be getting another fill. I am up about 4 lbs. from my lowest which is below. I wish I could lose 20 more but I don't know if I will get there. Was it worth it? I don't know. I guess only time will tell.

I guess I was no help at all. Maybe contact the others on the thread and see what they have to say. Good luck and PM me if you want to talk. I will give you my number for support.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
