Port In/Near BellyButton

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys!

I had surgery Tuesday (2/9) and I'm 4 days out. I have 4 tiny (1/4 - 1/2 inch) incision around my belly, but the large port incision is inside my belly button. I guess that's good in a way because I won't have a large scar, and it should be easy to find my port for fills, but I have had a lot of pain there. My pants and waistbands rub it and press on it, and it is incredibly tender and sore. Of course, if the incision was anywhere else on my stomach, it would probably be just as sore. I have seen other people mention that the port site is always tender. Does anyone else have the port in their belly button?

Thanks!

Sounds like a good place.

Mine is to the right of my belly button and up about 2 inches.

That is where mine is. It was bothersome for a couple of weeks, but it was great for sleeping. Within a day or two I was able to sleep on my side and on my stomach within a few weeks!

My port incision is also in my navel. It was a little sore for a couple of days at first but healed really nicely. I figure when I'm finished losing weight, It's going to be removed in the Tummy Tuck anyway but it's nice that I don't have another purple scar for now.

I have it in my belly button but I never had tenderness or soreness from it. I love having it there. what's funny is..now that I am at goal weight, I can feel it with my fingers! Weird but makes it easy for fills!

My port is in the same place. I hung out in my robe the first few days and it wasn't a bother. When I did get my jeans back on I had lost enough weight that they were pretty big on me. The only trouble I had was about day 9 postop I went on a motorcyle ride. I just had to adjust it a bit to keep it from rubbing.

My main incision is my belly button also -- single-incision, but I needed a few smaller incisions, barely noticeable.

I had belly button pain, yep. I'm 3.5 weeks post op and am doing well now! :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
