Hello,

Well my b-day is in 10 weeks!!! Im really excited for the celebration, but my bandster journey has been going as fast as other bandsters, but I try to stay motivated. Anyways, I would love to lose 30lbs by my b-day in 10 weeks. I'm reaching out to all for any tips or suggesstion from new exercises or food items I should be eating. I'm hoping if I reach my goal I can post a picture I know I have a long way to go but Im ready to work extra hard.

You can do it!! I think Lapband is geared towards a 1-1.5 lb weight loss per week, but if you really try you can loose 3 lbs per week. Just DONT be disspointed in yourself if you lose 10-15 lbs!!! That is stil awesome.

I would suggest determining your BMR and then adjusting your calories so you can lose 3 lbs per week...that is a 10,500 deficit. So if your BMR is 2700, your daily caloric intake should be 1200. That leaves you with a 1500 calorie deficit per day which equates to 3 lbs per week. 1500 calories x 7 days/week = 10,500 calorie deficit. (you have to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 lb)

Of course excercising burns additional calories...I tend to use those calories for cocktails on the weekends

Have you tried the five day pouch test?

No, I have read that on this site several times, but I have no idea what that is.

Make sure you add a different workout item. It shakes your body up! Belly Dance, Water Aerobics, Zumba!

You can do it! And remember, always aim for the moon, if you don't make it you are still among the stars!

thank you for the tips currently I am a PT that has been on a program of 5 day cardio and 3 day strength trainning. So I understand should be adding the classes into this program? i.e. after the program workout do a class? I will try this and give an update in a couple of weeks to see how I'm doing!

Let's see...you've lost 25 pounds since being banded about 17 weeks ago. 30 in 10 weeks seems optimistic, especially given your current exercise regimen. Maybe if we knew more about what you're eating, it would be helpful.

If you're not already doing it, focusing on Protein and carbs from veggies is a good way to get things moving more rapidly.

But even if you don't hit 30 pounds, you'll be well on your way if you continue with your current regimen!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
