Well, actually, when you do the math, it's 4 weeks of liquids. 2 weeks on pre-op, and 2 weeks on post op. I think the pre-op is more difficult b/c there's no restriction or pain yet. But the best thing about it is that it taught me that I'm not going to shrivel up and die just because I'm not eating something every couple of hours. Eat to live...not live to eat.

Prayers and hugs to all who are on liquids right now!

my doctor has never talked to me about shakes...... i was told only clear liquids....skim milk, popsicles, fruit juice and broth. i really do feel weak.

They have New whey Protein bullets at GNC that have 42g of Protein in each and they are considered a clear liquid. Many people don't like the taste, but they are only 3 1/2 oz so it is really easy to get down. They are kind of tart like a sweet tart. I used the tropical punch flavor. It should be enough protein to help with the weakness. The whey, however, may give you diarrhea.

Banded Jan 25. Starting Jan 27 I was told to drink 3-4 Protein shakes (Beneprotein and one packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast, sugar free) a day along with lots of liquids, mostly Water. The Protein keeps you from being hungry. Carn.Inst.Brk. has lots of Vitamins, etc.

Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
